Ferrell Bringing 'Semi-Pro' to Alamo: Will Ferrell is making a quick detour on his publicity tour for the comedy Semi-Pro, and he's coming to Austin on February 16. The actor, along with director Kent Alterman, will be in attendance for a special Ain't It Cool News and Fantastic Fest screening of the film, at the Alamo Drafthouse S. Lamar. Long lines as several hotly tipped acts took to the stage at The Parish in Austin for the NPR Showcase at SXSW.  Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill was spotted at the show, several hours before his fiancée, singer Jessie Baylin who will perform at the venue tonight at 8.30pm. Followill caught Yeasayer’s set before checking out The Stills at nearby Emo’s and returned for Vampire Weekend’s capacity performance.

The quintet offered up three-part vocal harmonies paired with introspective storytelling lyrics to a rapt audience. "I think it went well but I had my eyes closed the whole time," frontman Robin Peckhold told NME.COM after their set. "We got in this morning from Alabama around 4am so it's been pretty crazy. I had been curious about jazzy hip-hop act Kidz in the Hall and the bluesy Americana of Saint Bernadette.  Wax Fang, however, tore those plans to shreds.  The three-piece possessed a Who-like grandeur and psychedelic bent, and kept me parked in one venue for the hour. Wax Fang is epic guitar rock, with melodic solos breaking free from hypnotic loops. - LA Times

One of the hot newish companies at SXSW this year is Kyte.tv, a video-streaming service that lets users upload video from their mobile phones or webcams to be distributed through their own Kyte channel, which can be embedded across the Web.
